Lee Rotherham with statues of Marx and Engels
Dr Lee Rotherham is uniquely qualified
as an expert on the EU, having advised the "Group of Eight"
Eurorebels as well as three Shadow Foreign Secretaries. His
grassroots experience comes from his years as Campaign Secretary
to Conservatives Against a Federal Europe (CAFE), and he has
fought as a candidate in two general elections.
He has witnessed the Christian Democrats at first hand, both
within the European Parliament, and later as 'Chief of Staff'
to the Rt Hon David Heathcoat-Amory MP, Conservative delegate
to the Convention on the Future of Europe. Here at times they
found Marxists who were closer to the Conservative position.
Mr Heathcoat-Amory subsequently withdrew from the EPP to form
a Eurosceptic group which submitted its own Minority Report
- the only text not today rejected by referendum.
Lee has consistently campaigned against Party membership of
the EPP ever since his first visit to Brussels in 1997, where
within 24 hours of his arrival he witnessed a supposed MEP
compromise that broke every Conservative principle.
More recently, he has served in Basrah as a mobilised reservist;
campaigned on his return for the protection of Iraqi heritage
sites; and co-authored the Bumper Book of Government Waste,
which is, unfortunately, more entertaining than anything on
the EPP (short of going into lurid details about the Strasbourg
bars).

Robert Oulds is the Director of the Bruges Group and Chairman
of Slough
Conservative Association. Since 2002 he has been a Councillor
in
Chiswick where he is also standard bearer for the Royal British
Legion.
Amongst other publications, Robert Oulds
is the co-author of Federalist
Thought Control: The Brussels Propaganda Machine. He regularly
appears
on television and the radio discussing British and European
politics.
Robert is also involved with the children's think-tank Kids
Count.
